What is Rise?

An overview of what Rise is, how it works for both Payers (businesses) and Payees (contractors and employees).

What is Rise?

Rise is a global payroll and contractor payments platform built for the modern workforce. It connects businesses with their international teams — handling everything from onboarding and compliance to payments and withdrawals — so both sides can focus on the work that matters.

Rise serves two user types: Payers (businesses and admins) and Payees (contractors and employees). Each has a distinct experience on the platform.

🏢 For Businesses (Payers)

Rise gives companies a single platform to manage and pay their global workforce — without the complexity of international banking, compliance, or manual admin.

Onboard Contractors & Employees

Invite contractors and employees to your team in minutes. Rise handles identity verification (KYC/KYB) in the background, so you always know your workforce is compliant before the first payment goes out.

Pay Your Team — Any Way You Need To

Send one-time payments, set up recurring pay schedules, or pay your entire team at once with batch payments. Rise supports multiple currencies, so your contractors get paid in the currency that works for them.

Run Payroll & EOR

For employees, Rise offers fully managed payroll programs including US and UK Employer of Record (EOR) — meaning Rise handles the legal employment, tax withholding, and compliance obligations on your behalf.

Compliant Contracts

Generate and manage compliant service agreements directly on the platform. Rise supports Master Service Agreements (MSA), Professional Service Agreements (PSA), and Statements of Work (SOW) — all tied to payment workflows.

Manage Your Workforce

Your People section gives you a centralized view of every contractor and employee — their onboarding status, documents, payment history, and more.

👤 For Contractors & Employees (Payees)

Rise gives contractors and employees a secure, flexible way to receive payments from anywhere in the world — and choose how they get paid.

Receive Payments Globally

Once your client sends a payment through Rise, it lands in your Rise balance. From there, you choose how and when to withdraw — to a bank account or a crypto wallet, in fiat or crypto, whenever you're ready.

Withdraw Your Way

Link a bank account for local or international transfers, or connect a crypto wallet to receive stablecoins or tokens directly. Set up Direct Deposits to automate withdrawals as soon as funds arrive.

Submit Invoices

Create and send invoices to your clients directly within Rise — no spreadsheets, no back-and-forth. Your client approves and pays all within the same platform.

Earn on Your Balance

With Rise Earn, you can put your idle Rise balance to work. Convert your USD balance to USDC and earn passive yield through Aave's liquidity protocol — redeemable at any time, directly back to your Rise account.

⚠️ Important:

Rise is a payments and compliance platform — not a bank or financial institution. This means:

  • Payees cannot deposit or add funds to their Rise balance. Your balance is funded exclusively by payments sent to you by a Payer (your client or employer). There is no way to top up, fund, or deposit money into your own Rise account from a personal bank or wallet.

  • Rise accounts are not FDIC-insured. Rise is not a bank and does not offer the same protections as a traditional bank account.

  • Rise is not a wallet or savings account. It is a payment intermediary — funds flow in from Payers and out to your bank or wallet of choice.

  • Rise Earn is powered by DeFi (Aave), not traditional banking interest. Yields fluctuate based on market conditions and are not guaranteed.

If you're expecting a payment and your balance shows $0, it means your client hasn't sent the payment yet — or it's still processing. Contact your client or reach out to Rise support for help.
