Onboarding Steps
After choosing your registration type, you'll move through Rise's 7-step onboarding wizard. Your progress is shown in the left sidebar.
Step 1 of 7 — Accept Terms
Review and agree to Rise's required policies:
Rise Terms of Service — how Rise works and how payments are handled
Privacy Policy — how Rise collects and protects your information
Payment & Compliance Certification — confirmation that you're not involved in any prohibited or illegal activity
These agreements allow Rise to verify your identity, process and issue payments on your behalf, and meet legal and compliance requirements. Click Agree and Continue to proceed.
Step 2 of 7 — Verify Your Identity
Rise needs to verify your identity before you can receive payments on the platform.
Remove hats, glasses, or any item that may cover your face.
Click Next Steps to start the process.
Rise will process your identity verification. This may take a few moments.
Note: Clicking Back during onboarding will return you to the beginning of the process and all progress will be lost. Use the Back button only if absolutely necessary.
Step 3 of 7 — Create Your Passkey
A passkey secures your account and confirms your identity when managing funds or making changes. It uses your device's built-in authentication (such as Face ID, Touch ID, or a PIN) instead of a password.
Important things to know about your passkey:
It's connected to your hardware
It cannot be used on another device
If you lose it, you'll need to go through a recovery process
To create your passkey:
Click Set up passkey.
A confirmation dialog will appear — click Continue.
Your device's security prompt will appear (e.g., Windows Security, Face ID, Touch ID). Follow the on-screen instructions to save your passkey to your preferred location (your device, a password manager, or a security key).
Step 4 of 7 — Sign Your Master Services Agreement
Review your Master Services Agreement (MSA) — this is the contract between you and Rise that governs how payments are made.
Scroll through the agreement to review its contents.
Click Sign Here when you're ready to sign.
In the Sign Document dialog, check the box to confirm that:
Your electronic signature has the same legal effect as a handwritten signature
You consent to be legally bound by the document
Click Confirm.
You'll be prompted to authenticate with your passkey to complete the signing process. Make sure to select the correct passkey when prompted.
Step 5 of 7 — Authorize Signing
You'll be prompted to review and sign an agreement to continue with onboarding. Click Next Step to proceed to the document.
Step 6 of 7 — Create Your Rise ID
Your Rise ID is your digital payment identity on the platform. It's what allows your team to send you payments and lets you manage your funds.
With your Rise ID, you can:
Receive payments
Withdraw your funds
Track your earnings and history
and more
Click Create Rise ID to generate your ID. Once created, it will be used for all payment actions on your account.
Step 7 of 7 — You're All Set!
Once your Rise ID is created, your account is fully set up. You'll see a confirmation screen highlighting what Rise enables you to do:
Get paid when you want — Rise supports daily payroll so you can access earned wages without waiting for traditional pay cycles
Choose how you get paid — receive payments in local currency, stablecoins, or cryptocurrency
Turn your earnings into yield — access DeFi options to generate passive income from your funds
Full control over your funds — keep funds in fiat, convert to crypto, move to a wallet, or withdraw to a bank account
Click Go to my team to access your Rise dashboard and start receiving payments.
FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions
🚀 Onboarding
Q: Where do I start my onboarding?
Go to app.riseworks.io/sign-in and sign up using the same email address your payer invited you with. If you came from the old platform (pay.riseworks.io), that platform is no longer active — all onboarding and account access is now on the new Rise only.
Q: What are the steps in the onboarding process?
There are 7 steps:
Accept Terms
Verify your identity (KYC)
Create your Passkey
Sign your Master Services Agreement (MSA)
Authorize signing
Create your Rise ID
Choose your workspace
You must complete all 7 steps before you can receive payments. Your progress is shown in the left sidebar at each step.
Q: I passed KYC but I'm still stuck — what's left?
KYC is Step 2 of 7. After verification, you still need to create a Passkey, sign your MSA, authorize signing, and create your Rise ID. Log back in at app.riseworks.io/sign-in — Rise will pick up exactly where you left off.
Q: My identity verification keeps failing. What should I do?
A few things to check:
Remove hats, glasses, or anything covering your face
Use a real government-issued photo ID — no scans, photocopies, or expired documents
Make sure your proof of address is dated within the last 60 days and is not a P.O. Box
Use a well-lit environment for the selfie
Do not click Back during verification — it resets the entire flow
If it fails repeatedly, contact support with the name of the document you're submitting so we can check if it's supported in your region.
Q: What proof of address documents are accepted?
Accepted documents include bank statements, utility bills, government-issued letters, and official tax documents — all dated within the last 60 days and showing your full name and address. Sworn police statements, informal letters, and P.O. Box addresses are not accepted.
Q: I accidentally clicked Back during onboarding and now I'm at the start again. Is my progress lost?
Yes — clicking Back during onboarding resets progress to the beginning. Log back in and go through the steps again. Your KYC may still be recognized if it's already been approved, but you'll need to re-complete the remaining steps.
Q: I chose the wrong account type (Individual vs. Business). Can I change it?
Not directly — account type cannot be changed after KYC approval. Please contact support, and we can reset your onboarding so you can start again with the correct type.
Q: My onboarding status still shows "Onboarding" even after I completed everything. Why?
You remain in "Onboarding" status until the final step — Rise ID creation — is complete. Even if KYC is approved and documents are signed, your status won't update to "Payable" until your Rise ID exists. Log in and check if Step 6 (Create Rise ID) is still pending.
Q: I never received my onboarding confirmation, or my payer says I'm not "Payable" yet.
"Payable" status is only reached after all 7 onboarding steps are complete, including Rise ID creation. Log in at app.riseworks.io and check your Action Items — they'll show exactly what's still pending.
🔑 Passkey
Q: What is a Passkey and why does Rise use it?
A Passkey is a secure digital key that replaces passwords. Instead of typing something, your device confirms your identity using Face ID, Touch ID, or a PIN. Rise uses Passkeys to authorize sensitive actions — creating your Rise ID, signing documents, and approving withdrawals — without ever storing a password that could be stolen or forgotten.
Q: Where is my Passkey stored?
Your Passkey is saved in one of these locations, depending on what you chose during setup:
Your device — via Face ID, Touch ID, or Windows Hello
Your browser — Chrome, Safari, or Edge's built-in password manager
A password manager — iCloud Keychain, 1Password, Dashlane, etc.
It is tied to the specific device and browser where you created it. It will not automatically appear on a new device.
Q: The system is asking me to "Use saved passkey" but I don't know what to do.
This is normal — Rise is asking you to confirm your identity before completing a step (like creating your Rise ID). Your passkey will appear in the list (e.g. "RSK - us-XXXXXXX"). Select it, tap Continue, and authenticate using Face ID, Touch ID, or your PIN. That's all that's needed.
Q: I'm on a different device and my Passkey isn't showing. What do I do?
Passkeys are device-specific. If you're on a different device or browser than the one you used during onboarding, your Passkey won't appear. Switch back to the original device and browser to continue. If you no longer have access to that device, you'll need to go through the recovery process (see below).
Q: I use a password manager. How do I use my Passkey from there?
When the "Use saved passkey?" prompt appears, look for an option to use a different device or password manager. Open your password manager (e.g. iCloud Keychain, 1Password) and look for an entry for app.riseworks.io. Select it to authenticate.
Q: My Passkey prompt appears, but fails when I try to use it.
Try the following:
Make sure you're using the same browser you used during onboarding
Try in a fresh browser tab or incognito window
Disable VPN if one is active
Check that your device's biometrics (Face ID / Touch ID) are working
Clear your browser cache and retry
If it still fails, contact support.
Q: I lost access to my Passkey (lost device, new phone, etc.). How do I recover it?
Go to Profile → Security → Recover RSK and follow these steps:
Request a recovery code — it will be sent to your email after a 6–8 hour security delay
Once you receive the code, return to the same screen and enter it
Complete a new KYC identity verification
Create a new Passkey on your current device
After creating the new Passkey, the Rise security team will verify and authorize it on the backend. This can take up to 48 hours — you'll receive an email notification when it's ready. During this window, your Passkey will not be available for payment authorizations.
⚠️ Watch your inbox throughout this process — the recovery will stall if you miss the email.
Q: What's the difference between a Passkey and an RSK?
The RSK (Rise Security Key) was a password used on the old Rise V1 platform. It has been replaced by Passkeys on the new Rise. If you migrated from V1, you may still use your RSK if you remember it. If you've forgotten it, go to Profile → Security → RSK to reset it — this will guide you to set up a Passkey instead, which becomes your authorization method going forward.
Q: My Passkey was just recovered, but I still can't authorize withdrawals.
After recovery, there is a mandatory security review by the Rise team that can take up to 48 hours. This is by design to protect your funds. You'll receive an email notification the moment your Passkey is authorized and withdrawals are re-enabled. If it's been more than 48 hours and you haven't heard back, contact support.
