Step 1: Complete Final Payments & Terminate the Employee Profile
Before an individual can be invited as a contractor, their active employee profile must be completely terminated to remove them from your active payroll cycles. [This does not mean terminating the employeeβs Rise Account]
Settle Outstanding Compensation: Depending on your local legal requirements and your specific payer-payee relationship, terminating an employee may require final payroll adjustments, expense reimbursements, or severance payouts. Ensure these are calculated and processed before offboarding.
Execute the Termination: Navigate to your team dashboard to remove the employee from your active workspace team.
For a complete walkthrough of this step, please follow our step-by-step guide:
Step 2: Confirm System Offboarding
Once the termination steps are complete, double-check your Team tab to verify that the individual is no longer listed as an active employee. This ensures that they are completely decoupled from your upcoming payroll cycles and will not generate unexpected system or compliance errors when re-invited.
Step 3: Issue a New Contractor Invitation
Now that the system registers the user as fully offboarded from the employee framework, you can bring them back into your workspace under a contractor framework.
Send a Fresh Invite: Issue a brand-new workspace invitation. Make sure to explicitly select the Contractor classification during the creation process so the correct legal agreements and payment structures are generated.
