How to Replace Your Rise Security Key (RSK)

Lost the device or password manager where your Passkey was stored, or forgot your password? As long as you can still log in to your Rise account, you can replace your Rise Security Key (RSK) from your Security settings.

There are two ways to do it:

Use my Recovery Kit

Verify my identity instead

Who can use it

Users who set up a Recovery Kit before losing access

Everyone

What you need

Your printed Recovery Kit code + your security question answers

A valid ID and a Proof of Address

How long it takes

Minutes

6–8 hour code delay + review of 72 business hours or more after KYC submission and approval

⚠️ Important: Your new Rise Security Key replaces your old RSK. You'll use it to approve payments, withdrawals, and other sensitive actions.

Option 1: Use your Recovery Kit (fastest)

  1. Click your profile icon in the top-right corner.

  2. Select Security from the left-hand menu, scroll down, and click Replace RSK

  3. Select Use my Recovery Kit.

  4. Enter the verification code we sent to your email and click Verify.

  5. Answer your three security questions. All three must be correct. Capitalization and spacing don't matter.

  6. Create your new key:

    • Click Create new passkey, or

    • Click Can't use a passkey on this device? Use a password instead to create a Password Security Key.

  7. Enter the Recovery Code from your printed Recovery Kit. It starts with RISE1-.

  8. Click Recover. You'll see a confirmation that your key was recovered. Click Done.

⚠️ Your Recovery Kit can only be used once. After recovering, your old kit stops working. Go to Security → Recovery Kit and click Regenerate Kit to create a new one.

Password Security Key requirements

If you choose a password, it must:

  • Be 16 to 128 characters long

  • Include at least one number and one special character

  • Mix uppercase and lowercase letters

  • Not repeat a character three times in a row or repeat a short pattern

  • Not contain your email or the word "rise"

⚠️ Rise can't reset or recover this password for you. Rise never sees it. If you forget it, you'll need to replace your RSK again.

Don't have your kit or don't remember your answers? Click Verify my identity instead on any Recovery Kit screen and follow Option 2.

Option 2: Verify your identity

  1. Go to Profile → Security → Replace RSK and select Verify my identity instead.

  2. Request a recovery code. For your safety, the code is emailed to you after a 6–8 hour security delay.

Once you have the code, go back to Security → Replace RSK and enter it

  3. Complete your KYC. Follow the steps on the ID Verification screen.

  4. Create your new key. You can create a passkey and store it on your device, in your browser's password manager, or on a USB security key. You can also use a password.

  5. Wait for approval. Our team reviews and authorizes your new key. This usually takes 72 business hours or more, depending on the case.

⚠️You won't be able to use your new key to authorize actions during this review. We'll email you as soon as it's ready.

🛑 Check your email. This option includes two manual security checkpoints. If you don't follow the instructions we email you, your recovery will stall.

Set up a Recovery Kit now

Don't wait until you lose access. You can only create a Recovery Kit while your current RSK (Rise Security Key) still works.

  1. Go to Profile → Security → Recovery Kit.

  2. Follow the steps to choose your security questions and confirm with your current passkey or password.

  3. Print your kit and store it somewhere safe. Rise never stores your kit and will never ask you for it.

To change your security questions, generate a new Recovery Kit.
