Introduction to Passkeys on Rise

Passkeys offer a faster, more secure way to access your Rise account without ever needing a password.

Why switch to a Passkey?

Traditional passwords are often vulnerable to phishing and theft. Passkeys provide a higher level of defense:

  • Phishing Protection: Because they are cryptographically tied to the Rise platform, they cannot be used on fake or malicious websites.

  • Zero Memorization: You no longer need to create or manage complex strings of characters.

  • Seamless Access: Sign in instantly using your device’s biometric features, such as a fingerprint, face scan, or PIN

How do they work?

When you set up a passkey on Rise, your device creates a unique digital credential. Instead of typing a password, your laptop, smartphone, or tablet verifies your identity using your device's built-in security:

  • Biometrics: Authenticate instantly with FaceID, TouchID, or Windows Hello.

  • Device PIN: Use the same code you already use to unlock your screen.

  • Hardware Key: Connect a physical security key, such as a YubiKey.

Where is my Passkey?

It is important to remember where you first created and saved your Passkey, as it will be stored there for future use. Passkeys can be managed by several different types of services.

  • Browser-Based Managers: If you create a passkey while using Chrome, Safari, or Edge, it may be stored directly within that browser's built-in password manager.

  • Third-Party Password Managers: Services like 1Password, Bitwarden, or Dashlane can also store and manage your passkeys across different devices.

  • Operating Systems: Your passkey might be saved to your device's native system, such as iCloud Keychain (Apple) or Google Password Manager (Android/ChromeOS).

💡 Pro-Tip: To avoid confusion, we recommend using a single, consistent manager for your Rise passkey. This ensures you always know exactly which tool to use when authorizing actions on your Rise account.

IMPORTANT: Migrating from Legacy Rise? If you are moving from the previous version of the platform, your old "Rise Security Key" (password) will no longer be required. Once you transition to the New Rise, the passkey you create will become your primary method for authorizing sensitive actions, such as withdrawals.
