How to change your account email after identity verification

Your account email is the address you use to sign in to Rise. It is part of the identity we verified when you joined, so changing it requires a quick identity check. Your legal name can’t be changed in the app. See About your name below.

Change your email while you can still sign in

  1. Go to My Profile, then Security, and find the Emails card.

  2. Click Change Account Email and enter the address you want to sign in with. It can’t be an address that already signs in to another Rise account.

  3. Click Continue to verification. You’ll complete the same identity check you did during onboarding. During the check, you’ll also confirm your recovery email: keep the current one or enter a new one.

  4. Keep signing in with your current email until the review is finished. The Security card shows the new address as Pending Account Email, and an action item on your dashboard tracks the review.

  5. We notify your current email and your recovery email as soon as the request is made.

You can have one pending change at a time.

Change your email when you’ve lost access to it

This path requires a recovery email on your account. If you can still sign in, add one under Security now.

  1. On the sign-in page, enter your current account email as usual.

  2. On the code screen, click I lost access to this email. If your account has a recovery email on file, we’ll send a link there.

  3. Open the link, enter the new email you want to sign in with, and complete the identity check.

  4. The link expires after 60 minutes. Always use the most recent link we sent. If it has expired, start again from the sign-in page. If you already started a request, the link reopens it so you can finish.

  5. Until the review is finished, you can’t sign in with either address.

If you don’t have a recovery email on file and can’t sign in, contact Rise support from the Help menu on the sign-in page.

What happens after the identity check

  • Approved: Your new email becomes your sign-in email right away, and the old one stops working. We confirm the change to both addresses. The recovery email you confirmed during the check is saved too.

  • Not approved: Nothing changes. We notify your current and recovery emails, and the action item shows that the request was not approved. You can start a new request right away from Security, or from I lost access to this email on the sign-in page.

  • Address already in use: If the address started signing in to another Rise account while your request was under review, the change won’t be completed, and we’ll let you know. Submit a new request with a different address.

Why we ask you to verify your identity

Your account email is where we send security notices, payment information, and sign-in codes. Verifying your identity before you switch it protects your account and the funds in it, and keeps Rise compliant with the know-your-customer rules we operate under.

About your name

Your legal name was verified during onboarding and can’t be edited in the app. If it was entered incorrectly, contact Rise support from the Help menu.

Keep your account safe

  • Nothing changes without an identity check. If you receive an “under review” email for a change you didn’t request, contact support from the Help menu in the app.

  • A recovery link is only sent after you click I lost access to this email. Ignore any link you didn’t request, and never forward one.

  • Rise support will never ask for your sign-in code or your recovery link.
