A Payee account means that your account is set up to receive payments only. If you are a Payee, you have likely received an invitation to join your client's team on Rise and now need to onboard your account.
The steps are outlined below with screenshots for easy follow-along.
To begin, open the emailed invitation from your client. Or, visit app.riseworks.io and select Sign Up at the bottom of the page.
Now, select your account type. As a Payee, you want to receive payments, so select the second option that says "Receive payments"
(The send payments option is for businesses and requires business documentation.)
Once you've selected that you'll be receiving payments, you'll be asked to indicate your Registration type.
Individual accounts are for individuals who would like to receive payments as an individual, not as a business. An individual will need to provide their personal identification documents, proof of address, and other required compliance documents.
Some people would like to receive payments to a registered business in their name, such as an LLC, that they have set up for themselves. Please note that if you select Registered Business, you will be required to present business documents to verify ownership of the business.
In this article, we will walk through the steps to set up an Individual account.
Once you've selected your registration type, read and agree to the User Agreements.
After the User Agreements have been agreed to, you will be prompted to go through the identity verification process. This is part of our compliance process and ensures that the information provided matches the identity of the person creating the Rise account.

The Recovery Email is an email address you can use to access your account in the event that you lose access to the email address you signed up with.
Select from the following list of accepted government IDs. Please note that this list may vary based on the country your government ID is from.
You'll be prompted to capture a photo of your selected ID using your device camera.
Once the document is captured, the next step is to do a liveness check to confirm that you match the documents provided. This will also use your device's camera.
Once your identity has been verified, you'll be asked to set up your Pass Key. This is a vital step to protect your account. For more information on Pass Keys and how to set them up, view our How to Create a Pass Key article.
The final step is to create your RiseID by selecting 'Create RiseID' below.
