Proof of Address: Accepted Documents

If you've been asked to submit a Proof of Address (POA), this article explains what counts as valid proof and how to make sure your submission isn't delayed or rejected.

Important: An ID is not a Proof of Address

A Proof of Address is a separate document from your ID. Passports, driver's licenses, national ID cards, and other identification documents are used to verify your identity, not your address, and cannot be accepted as Proof of Address — even if the document shows your address printed on it.

If you've submitted your ID when asked for a POA, please submit one of the documents listed below instead.

Accepted documents

We accept a wide range of documents as Proof of Address, though acceptable options may vary slightly by country. Commonly accepted documents include:

  • Tax bill

  • Mortgage statement

  • Certificate of voter registration

  • Correspondence with a government authority regarding the receipt of benefits (such as pension, unemployment, or housing benefits)

  • Home internet and TV bill (satellite TV and wireless/mobile services are not accepted)

  • Landline telephone bill

  • Bank statement or correspondence showing the issue date and your name

  • Utility bill for gas, electricity, water, or internet

  • A current lease agreement signed by both landlord and tenant

  • Rent bill issued by a real estate rental agency

  • Credit card statement issued by a bank

  • Letter from a recognized public authority or public servant

  • Employer's certificate for address

Document requirements

For your document to be accepted, it must meet all of the following:

  • ✅ Shows your full name

  • ✅ Shows your full home address

  • ✅ Has an issue date within the last 60 days

  • ✅ Is submitted as a paper document or electronic PDF

  • ✅ Is fully readable, unaltered, and shows all four corners of the document

Not accepted

  • ❌ ID documents of any kind (passport, driver's license, national ID)

  • ❌ Screenshots (even of a valid document)

  • ❌ Documents older than 90 days

  • ❌ Satellite TV or wireless/mobile phone bills

  • ❌ Cropped, edited, or partially visible documents

Tip

The fastest way to avoid delays is to double-check that your document is a genuine address document (like a utility bill or bank statement) — not your ID — and that all four corners, your name, address, and issue date are clearly visible before submitting.

If you're unsure whether a specific document qualifies, feel free to reach out, and we'll be happy to confirm before you submit.
