During the registration process or while updating your profile, you may be asked to provide your LinkedIn profile URL.
You might notice that the text field already appears to have a name inside it, such as "Jane Doe", "Johnny Doe", or a random LinkedIn URL.
Is my account linked to someone else?
No. Your account is completely secure.
If you see a name already in the box, please be assured of the following:
This is not a security breach.
No other account is linked to yours.
This is not a real person.
What is this text?
This text is a Placeholder (or "ghost text"). It is a standard design element used to show you the correct format required for that specific field.
For example, instead of just asking for "LinkedIn," the placeholder shows you that we need the full link format: https://linkedin.com/johndoe
What should I do?
You can simply ignore the name.
Click inside the text box.
Start typing or pasting your own LinkedIn URL.
The "Jane Doe" or "Johnny Doe" text will automatically disappear as soon as you type.
If you do not wish to add your LinkedIn profile, you can leave the field blank (unless it is marked as required).
